Package Design Beginnings

As you begin to work on the new project, add these things to your blogs:

  • 3 images of AMAZING package design you found on the web (or photos you found in-person)
  • Images of your actual container pre-makeover – this is the “before”
  • 3+ sketches of your make-over plans – what do you want it to look like?

Package Design – the official intro

GD1: Find a package in “distress” and give it a whole-new outlook.

Modernize it, make it legible, more interesting… just plain better!

(You are stuck with the company name and product information – everything else can and probably must be changed – logo, color palate, font(s), etc.

ASAP bring in a container!

GD2: The impossible! Package something that can’t be contained.

ASAP bring in a container!

Welcome Back!

Double-check that you completed all work that was due before break.

GD1 – Complete your fruit/veggie.  Begin thinking about package design.

GD2 – All package design all the time!  Brainstorm your non-tangible (make a post of ideas).  Create idea sketches and add to your post.

Another option:  Check this out!

Cube Template & Housekeeping

Let’s look at the shared drives.  I added new folders for ONLY completed work for the 1st project.

GD1: For those all set with their graphic alphabet…

Here is the cubetemplate, download, add your images on top.

Be sure that you have a folder under your name with the title “graphic alphabet”… in it include:

  • 6 separate square files (1 PSD for each side) – you should have 3 color, 3 b&w
  • 1 final file of the flattened cube
  • File with answers to the ?s (listed here)

GD2/3: For those all set with the independent project…

Be sure that you have a folder under your name with the title “independent project”… in it include:

  • Final file(s) of completed work
  • File with answers to the ?s (listed here)
